High Commission of the Republic of the Fiji Islands
HISTORY OF THE MISSION
When Fiji gained independence on 10 October 1970, it set up three Foreign Missions, viz., London, New York and Canberra. The Fiji High Commission (to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) was situated at 25 Upper Brook Street, off Park Lane, before the government purchased its own property at the current address in April, 1976. The present facilities were officially opened on 3 May, 1976, by the Hon. Ratu Josua B. Toganivalu, then Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forests.
The following have headed the London Mission in the last 33 years:

2. H.E. Mr. Joseph D. Gibson, 20/7/76 – 06/04/81
3. H.E. Ratu Josua B. Toganivalu, 05/05/81 – 19/04/85
4. H.E. Mr. Sailosi W. Kepa, Oct. 1985 – Jan. 1988
5. H.E. Brigadier General Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, 26/05/88 – July, 1996
6. H.E. Mr. Filimone Jitoko, 16/08/96– Dec. 2001
7. H.E. Mr. Emitai L. Boladuadua, 16/12/02 – to date
Mr. E. L. Boladuadua is also accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the following countries/states:
· Holy See
and the following international organisations:
International Sugar Organisation, International Maritime Organisation, Multinational Forces and Observers (HQ in Rome) and the Commonwealth Secretariat.
